Anderson County Jail Roster

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office provides the official inmate roster through a CentralSquare Public Safety Suite Pro / Zuercher public portal. ACSO labels it as a way to locate current and recent detainees at ACDC. The live portal configuration says the public roster covers people in ACSO custody and is updated regularly, but the disclaimer also warns that records may not always represent the active, most-current status for selected inmates. Detention staff remain the confirmation source for urgent custody questions.

The roster exists because South Carolina law requires identities of people booked into county detention centers for the preceding three months to be immediately available for public inspection during normal business hours without written request. ACSO states that it makes this information available in part through the web portal. The portal also warns that ACDC is not responsible for inaccuracies supplied by arresting agencies or by the inmate, and that suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This roster is the local first stop for Anderson County inmates in pretrial, recent-arrest, or county detention status.

Use Anderson County Inmate Search

The Anderson County inmate search works best when the name is entered plainly and the filters are kept narrow. The research inspected live portal configuration and found that the public filters include Name, Sex, In Custody On, Arrest Date, and Release Date. Race, Cell Block, and Held For Agency appeared in generic template data but were not live-enabled in Anderson's public configuration. Do not rely on those fields unless the public portal later exposes them.

1. Open the official ACSO Zuercher inmate search from the Sheriff's Office online resources or the direct portal link.
2. Enter the detainee name, then add Sex, Arrest Date, Release Date, or In Custody On only when needed.
3. Review the result row for mugshot, name, sex, arrest date, release date, and hold reasons.
4. Read the hold-reasons row carefully because charge, bond, warrant, and agency details may be embedded there.
5. Call the detention center for urgent status, release, visitation, or identity questions.

Invalid date filters can return an error, including an invalid "In Custody On" date outside the configured range. Research also found paging behavior that slices results to a displayed cap of 50 records and sorts by name ascending by default. If the person is not found, check spelling, remove extra filters, and consider whether the person is in SCDC custody, released, held by another agency, or in a city booking channel.

Anderson County Roster Fields

The field inventory below comes from the live Anderson public roster configuration. It is more precise than a generic jail-search description because the portal configuration showed which filters are actually enabled for public use. These fields locate people in or recently tied to ACSO custody, not people in state prison, federal custody, immigration custody, or juvenile systems.

Anderson County Inmate Profile Fields

Anderson County inmate results can include a mugshot if available, or a placeholder user icon if no image is shown. The public result columns enabled by Anderson's configuration are Mugshot, Name, Sex, Arrest Date, Release Date, and Hold Reasons. The hold-reasons field is important because current charge and bond detail may appear there instead of on a separate public detail page.

Observed hold-reason types included Warrant Charge, Arrest warrant, General Sessions Bench Warrant, Family Court Bench Warrant, and Hold for Another Agency. Charge text may include statute or offense codes, issuing jurisdiction, judge, arrest date, and agency notes.

Anderson County Detention Contact

Anderson County Detention Center is operated by the Sheriff's Office. Research found an average daily population of about 400 inmates, roughly 319 males and 65 females, and approximately 4,500 new arrests each year. Detention Division duties include the detention center, courthouse security, bailiffs, and transportation. ACSO identifies Captain David Baker as detention leadership, and county directory research lists the facility at David Lee Coffee Place.

Visitor information is operational, so it should be checked before any jail visit, mail shipment, or deposit.

Anderson County Inmate Visitation

ACSO says visitation rules are designed for safety, order, and security. Each inmate is allowed one visit per week in a 30-minute time slot. Visits must be coordinated by the inmate and family or friends. Only visitors on the inmate's visitation list may visit. During intake, the inmate lists ten persons, and the list can be changed every 90 days. Late arrival can mean the visit is denied after the inmate's slot has been used.

No purses, bags, firearms, weapons, chemical sprays, cell phones, or cameras are allowed. Personal effects should be left at home or in a vehicle. Visitors may be denied for being under the influence, refusing to cooperate, failing to produce ID, disorderly conduct, or failure to follow detention staff instructions. Children must be supervised and controlled. Dress must be conservative, with short-shorts, miniskirts, bathing suits, halter tops, revealing clothing, underwear-type shirts, tank tops, fishnet shirts, see-through fabric, and lack of shoes or shirt prohibited.

Anderson County Inmate Mail

Effective December 8, 2025, ACSO implemented mail scanning for all non-legal detainee mail. Non-legal mail sent to the jail after that date will be returned to sender. Mail must include the facility name, detainee name, detainee ID number, and Facility ID 5005 or it will not be scanned. The envelope also needs a complete and legible return address with the sender's first and last name. Physical mail is scanned to the detainee tablet and destroyed.

Mail may include written or typed pages, photos, drawings, and greeting cards, but not Polaroid photos. ACSO bars glitter, glue, tape, 3D elements, electronic components, sexually explicit content, gang content, illegal activity, violence, drug or alcohol content, nude or partially clothed photos, illegal substances, contraband, magazines, books, packages, and originals of vital documents or photos. Photos sent through Pay Tel Connect cost $0.25 per approved photo and are charged to the sender.

Commissary and Phone Accounts

ACSO says the detention center operates a commissary. Family and friends may add money online through McDaniel Supply Company and should have the inmate's name and ID number available. The page says to send the receipt to the depositor's email for records. Money orders can still be added by mailing directly to the detention center on behalf of the inmate, but ACSO says not to send money orders to the mail processing center.

Inmates have collect-call telephones through Pay-Tel Communications. They may also buy $10 telephone calling cards through commissary. Pay Tel Connect can be used for account setup, and ACSO lists 1-800-PAY-TELL for blocking inmate calls or managing call issues. To block a specific call, the recipient can reject it when prompted.

SCDC and VINE Inmate Checks

County jail records do not cover every custody status. The SCDC incarcerated inmate search is for people currently sentenced to and incarcerated at the South Carolina Department of Corrections. SCDC says its search is a public service and gives a toll-free inmate information line, 1-866-727-2846. Data errors can be reported to Ombudsman@doc.sc.gov. SCDC does not show released SCDC offenders, county detention sentences, parole or probation supervision, juveniles, or current SCDC fugitives.

The SCDC public search page is the state-prison lookup path, not an Anderson County jail roster.

Use SCDC when the person may have moved from county custody to a state prison sentence.

The Sheriff's Office describes VINE as a statewide automated victim information and notification system that gives timely offender information and lets people register for automatic phone or email notices when custody status changes.

VINE is the notification channel, while ACSO and SCDC remain the record sources for local and state custody status.
